Registration for 2024-2025 School Year is Open
*Documents required to complete NEW student registration:
2 forms of proof of residency, one from each column (Click here for a complete list of Acceptable Proof of Residency documents)
Photo I.D. of the parent/guardian
A copy of the child's certified birth certificate. If a copy of the birth certificate is not available at the time of registration, the law requires you to provide it to your child’s school within 30 days of enrollment.
Additional documentation may be needed if the guardian’s name is not on the lease/mortgage statement.
*You MUST have an accessible email address to receive your login ID and create a password to start the application process.
*If you have active students in the district, but registering a new student (new preK, new K, etc), you will need to register through NEW student registration (not through family access).

*If you are interested in enrolling a student into our Early Learning Development Center PreKindergarten program,
contact Kany Rojo at 815-754-2361 to schedule a screening appointment BEFORE submitting an application.
PreK and early childhood students MUST be screened and qualify prior to submitting an application.
Returning Student Registration 2024-2025

Skyward Qmaltiv is live and ready for you to try the new platform. Skyward is the Student Information system where you can register your student for the upcoming school year, see your student's assignments, grades, attendance, and much more. We have created a video to give you step-by-step instructions on how to access the platform through a browser or mobile device. *For changes to guardian phone numbers or email address call or email your student's school office personnel or email registration@d428.org.
*If you have not moved or will not be moving prior to the start of the school year, please continue with returning student registration.
*If you have moved or will be moving prior to the start of the school year, you MUST provide updated proof of residency documents to the District Registrar PRIOR TO completing this Returning Student Registration. Acceptable Proof of Residency documents
Online registration for the 2024-2025 school year opened April 1, 2024, for all returning students. Returning student registration must be completed prior to May 12, 2024 to reserve your child's spot in their current Elementary or Middle School. For ALL new and returning completed registrations received after May 12, 2024, students will be placed on a first come, first serve basis. Some students may be overflowed to other schools within the district depending on availability.
*DeKalb High School students and middle school students will not receive their schedules until online registration is completed.
Returning students include all students that were ACTIVE at the end of last school year:
students returning to the Early Learning Development Center (ELDC) for PreKindergarten and Early Childhood
students enrolled at ELDC who will be entering Kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year
students enrolled at an elementary school (5th grade) and continuing to 6th grade at the middle schools
students enrolled at the middle schools (8th grade) and continuing to DeKalb High School
*If your student was withdrawn prior to 5/22/2024 from DeKalb School District and therefore considered INACTIVE, you must complete NEW Student Online Registration to re enroll your student in the district.
Computers are available at the Education Center, at your child’s school, and the DeKalb Public Library for registration, if needed. You can also use your student's Chromebook and log in using your family access login ID and password in Skyward. Please contact your child’s school if you need assistance with your Skyward Family Access login and password information. Assistance is also available for families needing English translation.
Community Registration Events
Computers will be available for parents/guardians to use to complete returning or new student registration at Community Conversation Events this Spring. District 428 staff will be available to assist and answer questions. Spanish and Arabic translation assistance will also be available.
